It is with great sadness that we farewell Pauline Fielden OAM, one of the most significant and much loved figures in the history of Contax Netball Club.
Pauline’s connection to Contax spanned more than six decades. She first wore the blue as an A Grade player from 1960 – 1965 before turning her attention to coaching in 1966, beginning an extraordinary contribution to the Club that would extend far beyond the court.
Over the years, Pauline served Contax in countless ways, including several terms as Club President across the 1970’s, 1990’s and 2000’s. In 1979, her outstanding service was recognised with Life Membership, and in May we had the privilege of celebrating Pauline and her contribution to our Club with her induction into the Contax Hall of Fame.
For generations of Blues, Pauline was simply part of Contax. A familiar face, a passionate supporter, a mentor and someone whose contribution helped shape the culture and foundations of the Club we know today.
Her influence can be found in the countless players she coached and supported, the volunteers and administrators she worked alongside, and the many friendships formed through a lifetime spent around the netball court.
We feel incredibly fortunate that earlier this year we were able to honour Pauline and share her story as part of our Hall of Fame celebrations, surrounded by the Club and people that meant so much to her.
Pauline leaves an extraordinary legacy at Contax, and her place in our history will never be forgotten.
The Contax Management Committee and Members extend our deepest condolences and love to Pauline’s children Tracey and Scott, her family and her many friends, along with all those across Contax and the wider netball community whose lives she touched.
