Our Premier League team are 2026 premiers, securing an incredible fourth consecutive premiership and creating another piece of Contax history.
2023. 2024. 2025. 2026.
Four seasons. Four Grand Finals. Four premierships.
Heading into Friday night, we already knew this was a significant moment for our club. Taking the court marked our 12th consecutive Premier League Grand Final appearance, continuing a run that stretches back to 2015.
But there was another piece of history on the line. No Contax Premier League team had ever won four premierships in a row.
Now, this one has.
Across those 12 seasons, players have come and gone, captains have changed, young Blues have made their Premier League debuts and some of our greats have retired. There have been dominant wins, heartbreaking losses, one-goal thrillers and plenty of memorable Grand Finals along the way.
Every one of those teams has played a part in the run, but the past four seasons have created a chapter of their own.
Winning a premiership is hard. To come back and do it again the following year is even harder. To do it four years in succession, with different playing groups and different challenges each season, is an incredible achievement.
One person who has been a constant throughout this period is Premier League Head Coach Leanne Eichler.
Since taking the reins in 2012, Leanne has taken Contax to 14 Grand Finals in 15 seasons, missing out only in 2014. Since 2015, her Premier League teams have appeared in every Grand Final.
It is an incredible record and one that has seen many generations of Contax players come through the Premier League program. During that time, young players have been given opportunities, established players have continued to set the standard and many have gone on to play at higher levels.
There was even more to celebrate on Grand Final night, with our Reserves making it back-to-back, securing their second consecutive premiership.
For both Premier League and Reserves to finish 2026 as premiers was a great result for our senior program and a credit to the players, coaches and support staff involved throughout the season.
The Premier League four-peat is a first for Contax and adds another significant achievement to what has already been an extraordinary run.
