The 2027 Suncorp Super Netball contracting period has come to a close, and once again there are plenty of Contax connections across the game.
For our club, there is something particularly special about watching players who have grown up in the blue dress continue their journeys at the highest level. From first SSN contracts and new colours to re-signings, an international move and the end of a remarkable career, there will be plenty of Blues for us to follow in 2027.
Georgie Horjus | Adelaide Thunderbirds
Georgie Horjus is staying in pink, re-signing with the Adelaide Thunderbirds for another two seasons through to the end of 2028.
A one club player, Georgie will head into her eighth season with the Thunderbirds in 2027 after another outstanding year which saw her step into the co-captaincy and help lead the side to the 2026 premiership.
Her versatility continues to be one of her greatest strengths, with Georgie a key part of the Thunderbirds attack across WA and GA.
Jazz McKay | Adelaide Thunderbirds
This one is particularly special for Contax, with Jazz McKay earning her first Suncorp Super Netball contract and being elevated into the Adelaide Thunderbirds’ contracted 10 for 2027.
Jazz’s journey in blue progressed through our junior ranks before making her Premier League debut in 2024.
Since then, we have watched her establish herself in our Premier League side and become part of an incredible period of success for the club. Most recently, Jazz took the court in our 2026 Grand Final as we completed a historic fourth consecutive Premier League premiership.
Her representative pathway has been just as impressive. Jazz captained South Australia to an undefeated 17U National Championship in 2025, where she was named both Grand Final MVP and tournament MVP, before being selected in the Australian 17U squad.
In 2026, she stepped up to the SA 19U team as Co-Captain and continued her development with the Adelaide Thunderbirds program, including playing in the Super Netball Reserves competition.
Her elevation also continues a very special family connection. Jazz is the daughter of Contax Hall of Famer, former Australian Diamond and foundation Adelaide Thunderbird Sarah Sutter, who has watched her daughter forge a pathway of her own from Contax to the national league.
For everyone at Contax who has watched Jazz grow up in the blue dress, seeing her earn her first SSN contract is a moment we are incredibly proud of and we can’t wait to see what comes next.
Kayla Graham | Adelaide Thunderbirds
Kayla Graham will also remain a Thunderbird, signing a two year extension that will keep her in Adelaide through to the end of 2028.
The versatile attacker has continued to establish herself at SSN level with her ability to play across GA, GS and WA.
Another South Australian who has come through the Contax and state pathways, Kayla will continue her career in pink in 2027.
Tania Obst | Adelaide Thunderbirds
And there will continue to be a very familiar Blue leading the way from the sidelines.
Contax Legend Tania Obst remains at the helm of the Adelaide Thunderbirds as Head Coach, with three fellow Blues, Georgie, Jazz and Kayla among her contracted playing group for 2027.
Tania’s connection to Contax spans both playing and coaching, and it is pretty special to see four members of our club represented within the Thunderbirds program.
Tabitha Packer | Queensland Firebirds
Jazz isn’t the only young Blue celebrating a maiden SSN contract, with Tabitha Packer signing with the Queensland Firebirds for 2027.
Tabitha will make the move to Brisbane after spending the past two seasons as an Adelaide Thunderbirds training partner, while also representing the Thunderbirds Futures and continuing to play Premier League for Contax.
Tabitha has been part of the Contax pathway for many years and already has three Premier League premierships to her name.
Her representative achievements include being named 17U National Championship MVP in 2022 and 19U Grand Final MVP in 2023, as well as winning gold with Australia at the 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games and 2025 Netball World Youth Cup.
At the World Youth Cup, Tabitha was named Australia’s player of the tournament, adding another achievement to an already impressive junior international career.
Able to cover WD, C and GD, Tabitha now gets the opportunity she has worked towards for so long, becoming a fully contracted SSN player.
Watching another player progress from our Contax pathway to the national league is something we will never tire of, and we can’t wait to see Tabitha take this next step in purple.
Tayla Williams | Melbourne Vixens
After an incredible chapter in pink, Tayla Williams is heading to Melbourne to join the Vixens for 2027.
Tayla departs the Thunderbirds after being part of their remarkable recent period of success, including three consecutive SSN premierships.
A product of the South Australian and Contax pathways, the move gives Tayla an exciting opportunity to begin a new chapter of her career in Victoria.
We might have to get used to seeing her in different colours, but she’ll always be a Blue to us.
Jessie Grenvold | Melbourne Mavericks
Jessie Grenvold will continue her journey with the Melbourne Mavericks in 2027.
Jessie has steadily built her way into the competition, progressing through the Mavericks program before establishing herself in their defensive end.
She remains part of the club’s contracted 10 for 2027 as she continues to make her mark at SSN level.
Another Blue continuing to establish herself at the highest level.
Sasha Glasgow | Birmingham Panthers
Sasha Glasgow is taking her game overseas, beginning a new chapter with the Birmingham Panthers in England.
Sasha returned to West Coast Fever for the 2026 season after two years with the Melbourne Mavericks, reaching her 50 game milestone for Fever during the year.
She leaves a lasting legacy at Fever as a 2022 premiership player and Grand Final Player of the Match.
Her move to Birmingham adds another international chapter to Sasha’s career and gives us another Blue to follow overseas in 2027.
Maddy Proud | Retirement
One of the great careers in Australian netball has come to an end, with Maddy Proud announcing her retirement from elite netball.
A former Contax junior, Maddy began her national league career as a teenager with the Adelaide Thunderbirds before making the move to the NSW Swifts in 2017.
She went on to become one of the Swifts’ great leaders, captaining the club to the 2019 and 2021 premierships and representing the Australian Diamonds.
After returning to the court in 2026 following the birth of her first child, Maddy has now called time on a remarkable career.
From a young Blue to a premiership captain and Australian Diamond, it has been an incredible career for the Contax community to follow.
Maddy Turner | A new chapter
After 11 seasons and more than 150 national league appearances, Maddy Turner will farewell the NSW Swifts.
The two time premiership defender has been an integral part of the Swifts for more than a decade, including playing alongside fellow Blue Maddy Proud in the club’s 2019 and 2021 premierships.
Maddy was named Grand Final MVP in the 2021 premiership and captained the Swifts in 2026, bringing an incredible chapter with the club to a close.
Whatever comes next, there will be plenty of Blues cheering her on.
For us, one of the highlights of the 2027 contracting period is seeing two more Contax players earn their first SSN contracts.
Jazz and Tabitha join a long list of players who have come through Contax before progressing to the national league, while Georgie, Kayla, Tayla, Jessie, Sasha and our other past players continue to represent the club across Australia and overseas.
Add Tania leading from the sidelines, Maddy Proud finishing an outstanding career and Maddy Turner beginning her next chapter, and there will once again be plenty of Contax connections to follow.
